Already Gone – Reviewed by Kelly McDonald

Already Gone.     John Rector.

I didn’t request this book. It isn’t within my normal ‘choice’ of reading material. So it came as quite a surprise to find myself lost in the world of Jake Reese after only a few pages.

Jake Reese is a man trying to get his life back on track. Totally in love with his new bride, he is trying to move away from his violent past. He has a new job, new apartment, and everything is looking good.

Things start to turn bad when he is attacked in a parking lot, and has his ring finger cut off. The police are not exactly helpful. Then his wife goes missing. Jake revisits his past as he tries to find her. It’s a rough journey.

This book was easy to read, fast paced, and even though it was quite violent, the author gave you enough visual to ‘see’ the scene without making your belly turn. It was well written, and the plot turned unexpectedly numerous times, making it a very good read.

The many twists and turns of this thrilling novel made it quite hard to put down. I liked it!

Apparently John Rector self published his first novel, THE GROVE, and it became a number 1 Kindle best seller. Simon and Schuster snapped him up, and if this book is anything to go by, he will be on the best sellers list again!
